The Sustainable Community Strategy 2007-2010 is a document produced by West Devon's Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) which sets out:

• How all agencies and organisations are tackling these issues
• What additional actions the Local Strategic Partnership will be taking

The strategy replaces the previous Community Plan and is now the primary strategic document, which will influence the planning and future direction of all partner agencies working in the Borough.

The Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) 2007-2010 was produced in 2007 by West Devon's Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). It is the primary, strategic document which sets the overarching priorities and influences the work of all partner agencies working within the Borough. The document shows how we will improve the quality of life for all, whilst safeguarding the environment for future generations by taking actions that embody the principles of sustainable development.

SCS was due for a full refresh this year, however due to our commitment to shared services with South Hams it was felt appropriate to delay a full update until March 2011. In order to ensure that the focus is maintained on all of our priorities, we have undertaken a further annual review to cover the intervening period. This document includes the latest information on our priorities for action, summarises our performance against last year's targets and sets out our actions for the next twelve months.

Our actions are informed by evidence of local need, which shows that our current priorities still hold firm. Our priorities support those identified within the Devon Local Area Agreement (LAA) and we continue to work with partners across Devon on reviewing and implementing the LAA delivery plans. We are working to ensure that the emerging Local Development Frameworks (LDF) for West Devon and Dartmoor National Park help us deliver improvements across the Borough to provide the necessary development and infrastructure to keep our communities sustainable into the future.

This is not a 'stand alone' document, it merely updates the full strategy document and should be read in conjunction with it. The Annual Update for 2010 - 2011 including the action plan is available below.
