Welcome to the West Devon Borough Council website.

The event, formerly known as the Devon Youth Games, will take place in the town on Saturday July 10 and hundreds of young people from across the county will be taking part in the celebration of sport and culture.

Sporting activities will take place at Tavistock College, Crowndale, Tavistock Meadows, Tavistock Skate Park and Meadowlands Swimming Pool.

Sports will include athletics, badminton, cricket, gymnastics, high five netball, senior netball, girls tag rugby, table tennis, tennis, aquathlon (swim/run), volley ball and new to the games this year is ultimate frisbee!

Dance showcases and fun workshops will take place alongside the sporting competition.

Mayor of West Devon, Cllr Alison Clish-Green, said: "West Devon is delighted to be hosting the games this year. It is a great opportunity for our young people to compete within the county. I attended the games in North Devon last year and was impressed with the level of commitment shown by our talented young sports people in Devon."

Master of Ceremonies will be local TV and radio broadcaster Mark Tyler who said: "I've been involved in several previous events and have seen at first hand just what it means for all those taking part.

"It's a fantastic showcase of sport and culture. There's something for all the community and it really is a perfect family occasion. I can't wait for this year's event, and I'm delighted that the organisers have asked me to be a part of the big day."

The Devon Games to Inspire is also looking for sponsors from organisations who would like to support this great event and assist in providing a brilliant opportunity for Devon's young people to show their skills and talents and enjoy the fun and friendly competition.
