08/02/10 - Free Fun and Games for Young People in West Devon this Half Term
Free activities for children and young people in West Devon are on offer this February half term to blow away the winter blues.
Since summer 2008, the Borough Council has been using its £200,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to provide free activities for hundreds of children across West Devon.
This half term, local groups have programmes of FREE fun-filled activities and events on offer.
Okehampton Community Recreation Association is running two OCRA Action Outreach Sport and Art sessions on Monday February 15, in Bratton Clovelly (10am - noon) and Highampton (1.30 pm - 3.30 pm) for 6 to 16 year olds. Call 01837 54546 for more information or visit www.ocrasport.org.uk .
The Princetown Opportunity for Play (POP) project, from the Higher Moorland Community Action (HMCA) Team, has two activities planned in Princetown. These are Hip Hop and Break Dancing on Tuesday February 16 (3pm - 5pm) for those aged 12 to 18, and creating a funky animal doorstop craft session on Wednesday February 17 (1pm - 4pm) for those aged 8 to 13, both at the Princetown Village Centre. The Tavistock Youth Café 'Playing Up' project has:
Recycled Art and Dream Catcher Workshops, for those aged 8 to11 years old, on:
• Monday February 15, 10am - 1pm at Bere Alston United Reform Church Hall,
• Wednesday February 17, 10am - 1pm at Horrabridge Youth Club and
• Friday February 19, 10 - 1pm at Tavistock Primary School Hall
Style Factor - recycled fashion with a difference, for those aged 11 to 13 years old, on:
• Monday February 15, 2.30pm - 5.30pm at Bere Alston United Reform Church Hall,
• Wednesday February 17, 2.30pm - 5.30pm at Horrabridge Youth Club and
• Friday February 19, 2.30pm - 5.30pm at Tavistock Youth Club.
